Chardel is an artist based in Bridegeport, Connecticut. She is a Jamaican-born self-taught painter who mainly uses acrylic on canvas. Chardel is heavily influenced by her Caribbean culture and inspired by the simplicity of vintage island life. She converted her love for textures, fashion, vibrant colors and interior design to paintings; merging together all of her passions. She has been honoring her love for art for the past several years putting together her current collection that she will be exhibiting Spring 2025.

My general theme is Caribbean culture and highlighting the beauty in everyday life. I was born in Jamaica and moved to the U.S. at age 10. After my migration to Connecticut it wasn't until 11 years later I was able to visit Jamaica again. At age 21 during my first visit back, I spent a month just getting excited and seeing the beauty in the most simple things. The houses, the colors, the shops, the trees, the fruits, the air, the sea, the stars; I can go on and on. Jamaica is not perfect but I think being deprived of that for those years formed a great sense of gratitude for all the small everyday things. I fell in love with capturing it in paintings, giving it a twist and telling a story.
